Teaching Philosophy & Experience

Kyle’s teaching philosophy is rooted in a student-centered approach that prioritizes engagement, clarity, and meaningful progress. He believes students learn best when lessons are built around their personal goals and musical influences, allowing them to connect emotionally to the music while developing strong technical foundations.

His teaching style is inclusive, encouraging, and flexible. Students are invited to explore new techniques, experiment with different genres, and develop their own musical voice in an environment where curiosity is welcomed and mistakes are treated as an essential part of learning.

As a professional musician, Kyle brings broad real-world experience into his teaching. He has performed across a wide range of settings, from intimate venues and private events to festivals, tours, and major concert stages.

His work includes supporting established artists, appearing on TV, radio, and live streams, and contributing to numerous studio recording projects. He has also led group classes and masterclasses at schools and community events.

Kyle’s musical background spans jazz, rock, blues, classical, country, folk, funk, metal, pop, punk, R&B, reggae, and experimental music. This breadth allows him to teach any genre a student wants to explore while helping them develop versatility and adaptability as musicians.

What ultimately defines Kyle’s approach is his ability to translate professional performance and studio experience into practical, student-focused instruction. Beyond technique and theory, he teaches students how to prepare for performances, collaborate with other musicians, and build confidence that supports them both on and off the stage.

Kyle is uniquely skilled at tapping techniques and plays tapping instruments, including the Chapman Stick and Warr Guitar.
